View Cached Webpages Using Safari 4's Webpage Preview

You can get better clarity in your Webpage previews if you use Preview rather than Safari for viewing the cached webpages. Here's how:

Step 1: Open up Terminal and enter in this:

open /var/folders/*/*/*/com.Apple.Safari/Webpage\ Previews/

Step 2: In the resulting Finder window, hit Cmd-2 to switch to list view.

Step 3: Sort by "Time Modified" or "Date Created". Now, you can find out what webpage you were looking by finding the appropriate date and time. If you don't know the proper time, you can do a spotlight search for text on the site, select the appropriate spotlight entry, hit Cmd-R to reveal it in Finder, then read the modification date of the .webhistory file.
